This is the afternoon session class. Why wake up that early?!?! Although the realistic version uses fabrics reminiscent of the 1800's, this is a sampler quilt that can reflect your tastes and you can use whatever color palette you prefer. On page 6 of, "Underground Railroad Sampler" by Eleanor Burns & Sue Bouchard (which you will need to purchase, and is available from Amazon.com), the authors give yardage requirements for a scrappy quilt using 4 different background fabrics. Be use to use the recommendations for the 12 inch block version. If you prefer to use the same background for all 15 blocks, I suggest you purchase 4 yards of fabric. Then you will need to purchase a variety of medium and dark fabrics in the colors you choose. You are required to bring the following to class: 1. Underground Railroad Sampler book 2. Fabric 3. Sewing machine 4. 1/4 inch foot 5. Neutral colored thread 6. Usual sewing supplies Optionally you can bring your own but we have some to share also: 1. Cutting mat 2. Rotary cutter 3.
